MANE MAN A ROARING SUCCESS! - July 2010

It is almost two years since Resource Print Solutions agreed to sponsor Alfie, proud mascot of the West Yorkshire Police Rugby League and the friendly face of a campaign focusing on knife crime.

Lion Alfie made his debut appearance at the Challenge Cup Final at Wembley in August 2008 and a couple of months later travelled to Australia with the British Police Rugby League players to back their bid to win the Police World Cup.

Since then Alfie has been kept busy helping to deter young people from carrying knives. He’s made appearances at Super League and National League rugby league games, has visited schools and been out and about with Police Safer Neighbourhood Teams in West Yorkshire.

He has also helped to promote positive activities available to young people designed to help stop them getting involved in anti-social behaviour.

Resource Print Solutions (RPS) has decided that "mane man" Alfie is far too young to retire and so has agreed to sponsor him for another year.

RPS Managing Director Phil Thompson said: "We are delighted that Alfie has been busy working on the anti knife crime and positive activities initiatives. We are keen to support valuable community work such as this."
