Oct 09 - Making a firm difference
Most companies set out to make a big impact on the world. Marketing services provider, Resource Print Solutions, however, are doing quite the opposite by reducing their impact – the impact on the environment, that is.
The Leeds firm has joined environmental forum, Two Sides, in a bid to make a real difference. As members of the growing environmental group, they are now working with other businesses to campaign for eco-friendly practices and standards.
Two Sides was set up last year to bring together companies working in the print and paper industry to promote sustainability in the sector. Their work includes campaigning to minimise the environmental impact of business activities.
As a FSC and PEFC (Forestry Stewardship Council and Programme for the Endorsement of Forestry Certification) certified company, Resource have been doing their bit for the environment for some time. They have already reviewed the sourcing of materials, production, print and design and disposal measures. They have introduced new measures including using only vegetable based inks and paper from sustainable sources. By joining Two Sides they are set to take their commitment to the next level.
Asif Choudry, Sales and Marketing Director at Resource, explained: “By joining forces with Two Sides we’ve made a firm pledge to improving standards.
“We pride ourselves on our corporate social responsibility policy and the way we measure our business in terms of our social, environmental and ethical impact on the community. We want to carry out our work in a responsible and ethical way and this is one way of doing that.”
Resource, which supplies comprehensive design, print and mailing services, have also introduced a variety of measures to improve practices. These include providing customers with the option of recycled paper. They also offer an innovative ‘web-to-print’ service that allows customers to get their products as and when they need them so that they don’t have to stockpile their print material.
A string of accreditations demonstrate Resource’s commitment to strong environmental practice. This includes the achievement of the ISO 140001 standard, which means that their entire approach to processes has been developed around environmental concerns.
