RPS CERTIFIED FOR THE FUTURE

Leeds-based printers Resource is celebrating a tree-mendous milestone with the award of a major environmental certificate!

The printing and creative firm, which employs 50, has recently achieved FSC/PEFC certification, a key environmental landmark within its Corporate and Social Responsibility strategy.

The FSC/PEFC (Forestry Stewardship Council / Programme for the Endorsement of Forestry Certification schemes) certification offers peace of mind to customers of Resource and means that all paper used in their printing production process comes from forests that are both well managed and fully sustainable. It follows on from a key ISO accreditation gained during the summer.

Resource Managing Director Phil Thompson explained: “FSC will help us to incorporate good housekeeping disciplines into all areas of the business and further enhances Resource as an environmentally aware organisation.”

“There are a host of environmental justifications that come into play not least the endangering of natural habitats for more and more species and the fact that forests store vast amounts of carbon vital to offsetting global warming.”

“In addition more and more of our customers are insisting on the use of FSC/PEFC logo on their literature,” added Phil.

Formed in 1993 by leading retailers, timber traders, forest managers, environmental & social none government organisations FSC defines responsible forest management standards independent of any one interest group and largely covers European Forestry.

The PEFC Council is an independent, non-profit, non-governmental organisation, founded in 1999 and serves to promote sustainably managed forests through independent third party certification. PEFC provides an assurance mechanism to purchasers of wood and paper products that they are promoting the sustainable management of forests and covers forests across the world.

Resource, based on Bath Lane in Bramley, delivers a comprehensive range of design, printing and mailing services and already holds accreditations for Quality (ISO 9001 & ISO12647-2), Environment (ISO 14001) and Investors in People (IIP) and is a member of British Printing Industries Federation (BPIF).

Resource is currently an active supporter of many community initiatives and sports clubs including the Leeds Rugby Foundation, Leeds Rhinos, SportsAid, Leeds Sports Federation, Sport Leeds, Bramley Buffaloes and the British Police Rugby League Association.
