Local printing firm on paper saving mission

Leeds based printing company, Resource Print Solutions, have today launched an environmental tree planting campaign to mark the installation of a new state-of-the-art book binding and paper folding machine at their Bramley office.

The new 'StitchLiner' machine, which cost £120,000 to install, allows Resource to save not only time, but also reduce the amount of paper wasted. To celebrate the team have decided to go one step further on their environmental mission and support a tree planting scheme in Yorkshire with the Woodland Trust.

The new scheme will see the printing company pay for the planting of one tree every week for a whole year at the Woodland Trust's Briscoe Woods, Near Harrogate, North Yorkshire.

Natalie Clark, Woodland Trust, said: "We all need to be reducing our demands on resources, so Resource Print Solution's investment in technology to help do just this is to be congratulated. It's also great that a Yorkshire company is supporting a tree-planting project right on its doorstep. As one of the least-wooded countries in Europe, itís vital we plant more trees which are not only important for wildlife and the environment, but people too."

Resource Print Solutions is the first printing company in West Yorkshire to install the new machine, which was launched this summer by Horizon. The StitchLiner machine hosts an innovative stitching system incorporating flat sheet collating, scoring, folding, stitching and a three knife trim. It produces stitch bound documents quickly using an environmentally friendly system to save on machine power and paper waste.

For example, when using a previous machine, a typical bulk printing job would take two days to complete, now using the machine it only takes six hours - cutting the time and energy consumed by more than half!

Philip Thompson, Managing Director, Resource Print Solutions said: "As a printing company we know we are using a high amount of paper and already have a number of environmental and recycling practices in place. However, the StitchLiner helps us go one step further and reduces the amount of energy and paper potentially wasted."

"It also provides us with the perfect opportunity to go that extra mile and take part in a tree planting scheme with the Woodland Trust, here in Yorkshire, to help put a little back into the environment."
